Bernard has a long-standing orientation toward biodiversity, ecology, and conservation, stretching back to 1981 and his early career in wildlife publishing. The carbon stock in Europe's forests is decreasing and the importance of protecting \u2018unmanaged\u2019 forests must be recognised in reversing this process.
